"Emily Carr Arts Centre, Victoria"
Artist: Bob Sheridan
Print on Paper
Canada, 1976

Victoria was a scene of two-storey wooden homes and warehouses crowded close to the docks, when the Carr family arrived from England in 1863. Sailing ships, paddle wheelers and canoes busied the harbour. Richard Carr established an importing business and within a year moved his family into their newly built home beside Beacon Hill Park. Here in 1871 would be born one of the Canada's most outstanding painters and authors, Emily Carr. (Ref: at the back of print)
